REPLACEMENT WINDOWS - WHAT TO KNOW:

Pricing
Of course, there are many obvious ways to add value to your home. But adding a second floor, building a tennis court, doubling the size of the garage or digging a swimming pool aren't always viable options for most of us! Fortunately, new windows can have a tremendous impact on your home's value for a fraction of what those other improvements will cost. In fact, for the money, nothing adds more value to a home than secure, energy-saving, easy-maintenance, high-quality vinyl windows.

The last piece of industry jargon that you need to understand is the concept of "united inches" or "UI". Since you will see this term in the fine print of most advertisements and since a window's UI will determine how the manufacturer and/or dealer sets the price of that window, you need to know what it means. But there is nothing tricky or secret about UI. A window's UI is simply the sum of its maximum vertical and maximum horizontal dimensions. Thus, for example, a window that is 30 inches wide and 40 inches high has a UI of 70 inches. Nothing complicated about that, but important to understand.
